About the Artist and the Owentree Sketches Project

David Owen Maloney (Owentree)

I  have been drawing pictures of trees and creating tree sketches for years and years and has been my primary focus as an artist. It's the subject matter my art has chosen and helps me to understand my creativity and has become a relaxing and meditative experience, as well.

Since graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1994 with a BFA in Illustration I have been  working as an artist and Illustrator. I have recently completed a 3 year Certificate Program, also at RISD in Interactive Design. I have started an new business called One Tree Designer  working as a freelance Web Designer. My focus on drawing trees, over the past 20 or so years, has been my entire world. It is not only my specialty as a professional, it's also my passion. 

It's a great learning experience. Whether it is learning about drawing in general or just a time spent reflecting on life.  Even after all these years, I still get the same thrill when I sit down at my drafting table and begin working on a new piece.
